You can choose to ask survey questions to viewers, both before and after they view the visual media with eye tracking.
You can ask any number of questions – or none at all.
To add survey questions:
- Open your study
- Click the ‘Survey’ tab
- Click one of the ‘Add question’ buttons, below the ‘Before’ and ‘After’ viewing columns
- Fill in the options in the dialog (see image below)
Note that you can’t edit your survey questions once the study has been launched, because this could invalidate existing results.
Until the study is launched, questions can be added, edited, deleted and re-ordered. Questions are asked in order from top-to-bottom of each list.

The question itself is always presented as a piece of text. You can choose from several answer types:
- Sentence: The user sees a single-line text field in which the answer must be typed.
- Paragraph: The user is provided with a text-area in which they must type the answer.
- Number: A spinner control is used to capture a numeric (integer) value. You must specify the min and max values in the box provided, e.g. 5,10 would set minimum to 5 and maximum to 10.
- Date: The user must provide a date.
- Choice: The user sees a set of radio buttons and must click one to make a choice. You must specify the set of valid choices, separated by commas. For example: dog, cat, mouse
- List: The user sees a list of checkboxes, and can tick any number of them.

To define the set of acceptable answers for number, choice and list questions, you must enter some constraints in the dialog.
Number Questions
Enter the minimum and maximum values separated by a comma. For example:
1,10
This will allow any number from 1 to 10.
Choice Questions
Enter a list of choices, separated by a comma. Note that the choices themselves cannot contain a comma.
For example:
Option A, Option B.
List Questions
Enter a list of choices, separated by a comma. Note that the choices themselves cannot contain a comma.
